Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Love Exquisite Arts and Recreation Nonprofit (L.E.A.R.N.) Center!  Complete the volunteer form below and one of our representatives will contact you regarding your interest. 
PLEASE NOTE:  All of our volunteers working with our youth programs are required to have a PA Child Abuse Clearance and Criminal Background Check.  All clearances must be up-to-date.

We are in need of your help for the following volunteer positions:

Serving: North Philadelphia, West Philadelphia and other underserved communities of Philadelphia, as events require
 

Assistant VP of Operations

Attend board meetings, supports VP of Operations and Executive Director with mission aligned activity planning, increase fundraising efforts to support programming, workshops, and activities, serve as back-up in the absence of the VP of Operations and/or Executive Director to help execute decisions approved by the Executive Director and Board.  Engage in discussions on possible partnerships with mission aligned organizations on events.   Participate in program activities to help support as needed.  One year volunteer appointment that can be terminated or renewed upon written notice.  Preferred background experience in working within the nonprofit sector and/or fundraising in a supervising leadership role. Part-time volunteer position at least 13 hours per month time commitment, could vary based on events.
 

Assistant Manager of Athletics

Attend board meetings, supports Sports Manager with scheduling and fundraising efforts for sports related events, activities, and workshops.  Helps to increase fundraising and youth volunteerism in sports related activities.  Helps to plan, set-up, organize, secure location space, schedule sports related events, and secure liability insurance and necessary permission slips and waiver forms from parents of youth who engage in sports related activities, secure sponsorships from businesses for sports related events, help plan a yearly walk fundraiser, assist and manage volunteer staff at events, and other assigned duties.  Engage in discussions about possible partnerships or sponsorships with major athletic brands and local sports brands on events.  All sports related activities must be approved by the Executive Director and the Board.  One year volunteer appointment that can be terminated or renewed upon written notice.  Preferred background experience in sports related event planning or sports player, but not required. Part time volunteer position at least 10 hours a month time commitment, could vary based on events.


Assistant Manager of Music

Attend board meetings, supports Music Director with scheduling and fundraising efforts for music and entertainment related events, activities, and workshops.  Helps to increase fundraising and youth volunteerism in music related activities.  Helps to plan, set-up, organize and secure location space, schedule music related workshops and events, secure liability insurance and necessary permits and waiver forms for participants in music related activities, help plan a yearly concert, and secure sponsorships for music related event, assist and manage volunteer staff at events, and other duties as assigned.  Engage in discussions with music industry artist major and local to encourage partnership or sponsorships at events.  Schedule appointments and meet with artists, performers to book for events to be approved by Executive Director and the Board. One year volunteer appointment that can be terminated or renewed upon written notice. Preferred background in music or a music artist, but not required. Part-time volunteer position at least 13 hours a month time commitment, could vary based on events.


Manager of Fashion and Pageantry

Attend board meetings, supports Executive Director at fashion and pageantry related events.  Helps increase fundraising and youth volunteerism in fashion and pageantry related activities.  Helps to plan, set-up, organize and secure location space, schedule fashion designers, clothing apparel store owners for sponsorship opportunities, help plan yearly fashion variety show and promote positive beauty culture, assist and manage volunteer staff at events, and other duties as assigned.  All events must be approved by Executive Director and the Board.  One year appointment that can be terminated or renewed by written notice. Preferred background in fashion and/or pageantry, but not required. Part-time volunteer position at least 10 hours a month time commitment, could vary based on events.


Manager of Film and Theatre

Attend board meetings, supports Executive Director at film and theatre related events.  Helps increase fundraising and youth volunteerism for film and theatre related activities, workshops, and events.  Helps to plan, set-up, organize and secure location space, audition acting volunteers and assign acting roles for film and theatre productions.  Plan film and theatre productions to host and promote throughout the year.  Assist and manage volunteers at film and theatre related events.  All events must be approved by the Executive Director and the Board.  One year appointment that can be terminated or renewed by written notice.  Preferred background in film, theatre, acting, or improv, but not required.  Part-time volunteer position at least 13 hours a month time commitment, could vary based on events.
 

Manager of Arts and Culture

Attend board meetings, supports Executive Director at Arts and Culture related events.  Helps increase fundraising and youth volunteerism for arts and culture related activities, workshops, and events.  Helps plan, set-up, organize, and secure location space, artists, performers, motivational speakers, for arts and culture activities.  Plan, host, and promote programs throughout the year.  Assist and manage volunteers at arts and culture related events.  All events must be approved by the Executive Director and the Board.  One year appointment that can be terminated or renewed by written notice.  Preferred background in arts, spoken word, culture, or sketching/drawing, but not required. Part-time volunteer position at least 13 hours a month time commitment, could vary based on events.

 

Manager of Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship

Attend board meetings, support Executive Director at Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship related events.  Helps increase fundraising and youth volunteerism for financial literacy and entrepreneurship related programs, workshops and educational activities. Plan, organize, host, set-up, secure location space and financial literacy and entrepreneurship speakers/trainers/coaches for workshops and events.  Manage volunteers at financial literacy and entrepreneurship events, and other duties as assigned.  All events must be approved by the Executive Director and the Board.  One year appointment that can be terminated or renewed by written notice.  Preferred background in business start-up, entrepreneurship, accounting, financial planning, or budgeting and money management, but not required. Part-time volunteer position at least 10 hours a month time commitment, could vary based on events.
 

Manager of Mental Health and Wellness

Attend board meetings, support Executive Director at Mental Health and Wellness workshops and events. Helps to increase fundraising and youth volunteerism, mentorships, for mental health and wellness events.  Plan, organize, set-up, host, secure location space, and mental health and wellness guest speakers for workshops and events that are mental health and wellness related activities.  Manage volunteers at Mental Health and Wellness events.  Promote and foster the importance of mental health and wellness., and other duties as assigned.   All events must be approved by the Executive Director and the Board.  One year appointment that can be terminated or renewed by written notice.  Preferred background in spiritual counseling, counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy or mental health and wellness concentration areas (mindfulness, diet, exercise, healthy behaviors, healthy eating habits, mental stability), but not required.  Part-time volunteer position at least 10 hours a month time commitment, could vary based on events.
 

Manager of Digital Literacy

Attend board meetings, support Executive Director at Digital Literacy classes and events.  Helps to increase fundraising and youth volunteerism for digital literacy events. Plan, organize, host, set-up, secure location space, provide support on the use of technology tools during digital literacy workshops and classes.  Manage volunteers at digital literacy events.  Promote digital literacy and the importance of decreasing the digital divide, create and distribute digital literacy training material.  Help train on the use of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint in a classroom style setting.  Engage in discussions with major technology corporations brands to discuss partnerships and donation requests. All events must be approved by the Executive Director and the Board.  One year appointment that can be terminated or renewed by written notice.  Preferred background in the use of computer technology, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, is required.  Part-time volunteer position at least 12 hours a month time commitment, could vary based on events.
 

Manager of Social Media Marketing and Communication

Attend board meetings.  Manage the LEARN Center’s Social media accounts, i.e., Facebook, Instagram and YouTube Channel.  Post relevant content on our social media pages and YouTube Channel on a weekly basis.  Serve as a positive influencer promoting the mission of the organization (primarily, Stop Gun Violence and save our children).  Create marketing flyers, brochures, and well-designed posts to promote on our social media pages and distribute at events.  All events must be approved by the Executive Director and the Board.  One year appointment that can be terminated or renewed by written notice.  Preferred background in social media marketing, communication, journalism, blogging, excellent written English communication and spelling skills, or graphic design is required. Part-time volunteer position at least 12 hours a month time commitment, could vary based on events.

Manager of Workforce Readiness and Etiquette Training

Attend board meetings. Manage customer service, skill building, and etiquette training workshops and activities. Serve as a positive mentor/coach for youth and adults engaged in program activities, plan, schedule, host, and set-up customer service trainings; teaching on professional customer service, professional communication, appropriate behavioral conduct, and good mannerism practice, and other duties as assigned.  All events must be approved by the Executive Director and the Board.  One year appointment that can be terminated or renewed by written notice.  Preferred background in social media marketing, communication, customer service, excellent written English communication and spelling skills is required. Part-time volunteer position at least 10 hours a month time commitment, could vary based on events.
